Wining & Dining in Tampere – Gastropub Tuulensuu

Whenever we are visiting Tampere, – the city where I was born and raised -, we need to find time to get into some of our fave places in town.

Tampere has one of the wi(l)dest selections of good restaurants per capita in Finland and those give amazing value for your money.
(Please do not compare the Nordic prices for prices in SEA or such.)

One of those restaurants is Gastropub Tuulensuu, which used to be my living room in Tampere – so often we were wining and dining there.

The microbrewery beers are a big thing in Finland at the moment (like everywhere else too) and you’ll find plenty of them in Gastropub Tuulensuu.
But if you prefer wine, you will find many choices of those also.

Update your thoughts about pub food – this is gastropub – Gastropub Tuulensuu

If you thought pub food is something like deep-fried onion rings and crappy burgers, you should try Gastropub Tuulensuu.

They are proud of their Belgian-style cuisine for a reason.
After all, this is a gastropub, not just a pub.

Tuulensuu is not for fine dining, but hearty pub food to enjoy with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere or to have a date in candlelight.

They have rather unusual ingredients for Finnish cuisine.
Meatballs are of course typical to Finland, but Tuulensuu’s meatballs are with a twist.
My fave meal here is lamb meatballs with goat cheese potatoes, but you can find interesting suppers to try from frog legs to rabbit.

Service is great, these guys have a good sense of humor.
Beware, they might test you with their laconic phrases.

Yet they know what they’re doing. Ask for recommendations for food and drinks and especially for their combination.

Make sure to get here early on weekends, many people love to queue here.
